Grandma has broken two vertebrae and has a swollen spine. She will need a neck brace and rehabilitation. Surgery at her age (86) is not an option. One of her legs is exhibiting a weaker response and there is a 50/50 chance of it getting back to normal. No one knows what happened yet. Grandma is on heavy pain medication and cannot communicate coherently right now. Hopefully, as the dosage is reduced, she will be able to tell us some details. Her car is being transported back to her house; no one (in the family) knows what state the vehicle is in.
To most of you this update is irrelevant. However, some of you have met her, and some of you have heard me talk about my Grandma in conversation or anecdotes. She’s an awesome lady and I love her very much. She’s spirited, imaginative, silly, and a friend. She’s also a pretty tough cookie, but at 86, even tough cookies are a little slower to recover. If you think about it, throw a spare positive vibe her way today. Thank you. 🙂

She had never been out of Indiana before – or again after* – this trip.
This was, unfortunately, not my last perm.
