Lookie what I found!

Lots of people who know about Google Maps and their satellite imagery know about a blog called Google Sightseeing. Basically, Google Sightseeing accepts co-ordinates of interesting things that people find when using the Google Maps service, research the object of interest where possible, and then blog it and the image.
They’ve done loads of airplanes before, but this is the first one I’ve ever found -ยฌโ€ and it’s HUGE! (Well, high up anyway.) I found it by accident whilst looking for a place Neil and I visited today.

You can bet I’m submitting this one to Google Sightseeing. I think it’s so cool that you can clearly see that it’s Air Canada. Neato!

  1. No time at all – I was already zoomed in most of the way trying to find a little place I did some photography when I slid the focus area a bit and there it was! Total surprise. ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Thats by far the most impressive one of those I’ve seen.

I seem to recall that Google Maps isn’t purely satelite images, some are taken from planes – so that might explain why the plane is so big – I guess it probably counts as a near miss…

  3. You’re up late! ๐Ÿ˜€

I sent it to Google Sightseeing… just gotta keep checking the RSS feed for them. * fingers crossed *

Did I get a graveyard in it? I’ll have to look again! The one I was shooting pictures in was a bit up the road, so it’s not the same one…

  4. It looks to me like a graveyard behind the right wing and the building under the first right engine looks like a church.

Yeah I am on holiday so time means very little to me ๐Ÿ™‚
