I had to make a list today

In an exchange of emails I was asked to list some of my favourite bands/music. I just thought that since I don’t talk about music very often here that I should give at least an incomplete picture of some of the noise that populates my CD collection. This was more targeted towards bands and artists – not all types of music I adore. I would have to do much more thinking and typing to give that information… My CD collection is massive, but without most of the following, (in no particular order), I would feel a deep hole in my soul.

Queens of the Stone Age The Smiths / Morrissey
Afghan Whigs Big Black
The Toadies Minor Threat
Sonic Youth Misfits (old – with Danzig)
Cradle of Filth Cramps
The Pixies David Bowie
Dead Can Dance Nine Inch Nails
Duran Duran Front 242
Janis Joplin Johnny Cash
KT Tunstall Mclusky
Siouxie Melissa Auf der Maur
Ministry Fear Factory
Revolting Cocks Muse
Paw Peter Gabriel
The Prodigy Slayer
Rob Zombie Skinny Puppy
Slipknot Throwing Muses
Weezer Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Deftones Fugazi
KMFDM Jane’s Addiction
Velvet Acid Christ Moby
My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult System of a Down

  1. What about ABBA and DePeche Mode? I agree with some of your choices–David Bowie, Velvet Acid Christ, Morrissey, Duran Duran, Janis Joplin, and Ministry. I would also add The Three Tenors, The Ring Cycle, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, James Blunt, The Killerz and Barry White (for singing at the top of your lungs in the car). Oh, and Roy Orbison is good for that, too.

  2. My list was far from complete and comprehensive, but I must admit that despite my truly varied tastes, (which were not fairly represented in the list), I would likely never have any reason to put The Three Tenors on it. πŸ˜‰

ABBA should’ve gone on it though. I still turn into a little girl wearing my mom’s slip, singing into a hairbrush whenever they are played. πŸ™‚
