My battery life on my Pismo is pitiful. Open Firmware and PMU resets did nothing to resurrect even a few percentages more on the juice meter than I had already.

I fear that a third party battery replacement is in my near future lest I remain tethered by the power cord. Argh.

I’m off for a whopping ten minutes of mobile computing powerhouse activity… (good thing I’ve got my G4 Dual to help me cope…)

What’s jEN doing for New Year’s?

Hello kitties…
You might expect a jet-setting american wondergirl, with her finger tracing lightly on the pulse of the happenin’ and now, to be knee-deep in festive planning, slinking into a drop-dead party dress, dusting her eyelids with gossamer glitter eyeshadow and preparing a midnight toast to herald in the New Year…

Well, I’ve got some shimmer on my lids, but am knee-deep in a book on PHP, test pages appearing on both my Pismo and my G4, a binaural brain wave feast infiltrating my ear canals, and a modest, half-full* glass of water in front of me. I’m not exactly the definitive entry for “festive” right now.

I’m still in a sinus mire. I have a cough that won’t release the last talon from my lungs. I am in fuzzy slippers.

Bring it on, New Year. It’s got to go up from here. :)

Ever wonder what’s inside your aging Apple laptop?

I came across a fella who has taken apart a handful of aging Powerbooks and documented the steps involved with great care. If you’ve ever had the desire to break all the warranty rules or are so far past the last day of AppleCare that it doesn’t even matter anymore… peek at this guy’s site and keep your hands off your toolbox until you perform a critical backup first.

I’ve popped the hood on my Pismo a few times in the past, but only for an Airport install and upper and lower RAM upgrades. I’ve not really had the need to do anything else- though my inner tinkerer wants a reason to justify…
I really found the site because of a search for battery replacements for my aging black beauty. Now I know what lurks inside her expensive rechargeable. Neat! I still need a new battery, but I at least have satisfied the curiosity of what lurks inside that pricey brick.

This is going to be a post heavy day… it’s the last day of 2004… I’m going to make the most of it.

I’ve really seen it all now…

I was playing, no- creating, with a friend’s knock off make Etch-A-Sketch the other day. We were impressing each other with our mad skillz at creating basic shapes- having a good giggle at the circles that really looked a bit more like lemons. (Circles are damn hard to make on an Etch-A-Sketch I tell ya…)
Life was good. We rode the train to Reading- the rails of life’s simple pleasures speeding beneath us, not the least of which was the timeless joy brought to each generation by the swishing refresh of the Etch-A-Sketch…

There’s always someone out there who makes you realise that you’ve really not applied yourself 100% to the cause, isn’t there?

Oh- by the way… I’m feeling somewhat better. The flu/cold beast from Hell’s left testicle has subsided to a tolerable level now. I feel as though I’ve been doing abdominal exercises for days straight thanks to surprise fits of sneezing and coughing, but overall, a bit of tone in that area isn’t unwelcome, shall we say… The fever dreams were mostly fun, though I don’t remember enough detail to share. I have a new favourite “tea” - Lem-Sip Max Strength. I feel a small dependence issue forming. *smirk*

Truly though, I’m on the mend and the proof is that I’m running a load of laundry and using a smidgen of strength to tidy up a little around me. I’ve been down and out for the better part of a week and I’m going nuts from inactivity. I suspect I’ll wear myself down into an unavoidable nap later, but I know that’s the hand I’m dealing myself and am fine with it. As long as I get some shit done, I’ll be pleased with the progress of today.

argh… snort. hack, sputter, wheeze…

Christmas was good overall. Time with family was good, food was good, weather was wet and mild… which is pretty good.

Now I’m sick. (That’s less than good…)

For those scoring from home, illness is just as bad on the other side of the Atlantic. I have a chest and head cold- and I must say that the symptoms are just as icky here abroad as they were in the belly of America. Not that I truly expected a halcyon experience on the cold and flu front, no, but I was hoping that leaving the country helmed by Bush might have diluted the snotty-headed malaise.

Oh well. Lem-Sip Maximum Strength and plenty of fluids… I’ll be back on top in short order.

It’s a start in the right direction…

This is a custom blog style crafted by me and some bits reworked from the existing calendar and menu info for Wordpress…

You’ve seen my sneer for about half a year- now stare at the upper part of my head! I’m fairly pleased with how the CSS is going, though I know there’s lots for me to fine-tune yet. That’s for tomorrow night or the day after.

I’m a happy girl with the slightly dishevelled progress made this eve. I’ll beat the code into submission later. Right now I must get my tired butt to bed as I have a full day of public transit and shopping starting tomorrow morning. Burn baby, burn…

Feeling Groovy

Hey kitties!

You may have noticed the lack of my purple sneering mug on the blog…

Well, I learned how to install a CSS style switcher today. I have a handful of styles for you you view my content in currently, all found at the upper most part of the sidebar. I can’t claim any of them as my own designs. They’re just styles I found here and there and threw up here to test the code.

I used this one: WP Style Switcher

I plan on getting a custom style of my very own up by the end of the day… Stay tuned…
