I have been an absinthe enthusiast for more than a decade, a former absinthe retailer, and in the last couple of years a collector of some antiques from the original era of absinthe, the Belle Époque.
As I change careers to being a full-time artist, I find money is tight… Hence, this antique spoon sale.
My terms are simple:
I’m selling these only as pairs, not as single spoons. Pairs are less common, and make a lovely place-setting.
My prices are firm and justified by market value, competitor offerings, and by rarity as documented in the Les Cuillères Musée de l’Absinthe volume by Marie-Claude Delahaye.
Payment via Paypal only (which means you can use credit cards too). The Buy button follows the photos for each item. Worldwide shipping is £8.*
Please enjoy your purchase and if you have any questions, please contact me at itermeiluna@gmail.com

Let’s begin…
******SOLD*****Item 1 – Les Ouvragées: Griffe à l’attache du manche – Delahaye Les Ouvragées 2**
161mm [translates: Claw attaches to the handle]
Good condition, minor discolouration with age. Unique tabs on handle to grip edge of glass – Lightweight, functional and interesting.
£78
Item 1 – Les Ouvragées******SOLD*****
******SOLD*****Item 2 – Les Épis: 14 épis larges et très ondulés. Delahaye Les Épis: 9* 160mm [translates: 14 large ears and very wavy]. Stamped on back of handle “ARGENTA”.
Good condition, lovely high-shine finish. Heavy in weight, very sturdy. This is one of my favourite spoon designs as it’s simple, heavy, and attractive. Also a great one to offer first-time imbibers, as it has a very sure feel to it.
£60
Item 2 – Les Épis******SOLD*****
******SOLD*****Item 3 – Les Feuilles: Most closely matches Delahaye Les Feuilles 4** – 10 nervures simples [translates: 10 simple veins- les feuilles are leaves]. 160mm (not 159mm), rear handle stamped “ACIERE L&L” (Steel) in a circle that also contains the outline of a bullet shape.
Well-used and a bit worn, these have loads of character. One spoon has a small fracture line in the second set of slots, but is not at all delicate from the flaw. These were clearly used plenty, perhaps in a café, and have a utilitarian feel to them not unlike everyday tableware. It’s almost as if the spoons were made to look a better status than the café they served…
£78
Item 3 – Les Feuilles******SOLD*****
Item 4 – Les Feuilles: One of Delahaye Les Feuilles 10* and One of Delahaye Les Feuilles 11*
10* is 160mm, 11* is 162mm (not 161mm). Both are lightweight and worn, but 11* is in much better shape generally. I bought them as examples for my collection rather than to use (the above spoons are far more pleasurable to use).
£40
Item 4 – Les Feuilles
Item 5 – Les Losanges: Closely resemble the Delahaye Les Losanges 3**, one is marked WISKEMANN followed by the number 18 and is the heavier in weight of the two, and the other is marked WISKEMANN and EXTRA BLANC. These are SILVER PLATED. I cannot find a perfect match in the book, and therefore I am considering them ** possibly ***.
Both match the length of a 3** at 167mm. The longer description without a photo is a very close match: 8 losanges, 18 gros trous. Forme légèrement incurvée, sans nervure. Manche doucement arrondi sous la pliure, plat a son extrémité. Marque à l’extrémité de la pelle : WISKEMANN, accompagnée d’une croix suisse. Métal argenté. [translates: 8 diamonds, 18 large holes. Slightly curved shape, without rib.
Handle gently rounded in the fold, a flat tip. Mark at the end of the shovel: Wiskemann, along with a Swiss cross. Silver.]
The Swiss cross is present on both.
They are absolutely lovely and in very good condition. Could use a little more polishing, but I’ll let you do that.
£100
Item 5 – Les Losanges
*If you order more than one item, I will refund half of your additional shipping amounts. (First item £8, second, third, forth, fifth would be £4 each.)
Disclaimer: I am not an antiques dealer, nor do I speak French. I have done my research (beyond that which was provided to me by the expert I purchased from) with lots of typing into Google Translate, as well as other collectibles websites. I’ve done the best I can. If you find an error in my descriptions, please bring it to my attention and if I agree with your facts, I will make alterations to the description.
Thank you so much for having a look, and thank you even more for your purchases.
Cheers!
